§ 86-32. Meetings of the board of review.

  • (a)

    On the Tuesday next following the first Monday in March the board of review shall meet at the city hall for the purpose of reviewing and correcting the assessment roll.

    (b)

    In each case where the assessed value is increased or any property added to the rolls by the board of review, its secretary shall forthwith give notice to the owners of the property according to the last assessment roll of the city or the records of the register of deeds of the county, by first class mail placed in the city post office not later than 12:00 midnight of the Thursday following the first meeting of the board of review.

    (c)

    The second session of the board of review shall convene on the second Monday in March of each year, and shall continue in session from day to day for four days. The hours of convening for the first day shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The hours of convening for the next three days shall be as determined by the City Manager and shall meet the requirements of MCL 211.29 and MCL 211.30. No assessment shall be changed in any way at any session of the board of review, except by motion or resolution regularly adopted by a majority of the members of the board of review, which motion or resolution shall state the amount at which the assessment is fixed as reviewed by the board of review.

    (d)

    Each day's proceeding of the board of review shall be read, approved and signed by the chairman of the board of review.
