§ 11.8. Meeting of board of review.

  • The Board of Review shall meet in two sessions in each year at such time and place as shall be designated by the Council. The first session of the Board shall convene on the last Monday in April of each year and shall continue in session from day to day for the purpose of considering and correcting the roll for three (3) days. In each case where the assessed value is increased or any such property added to the rolls by the Board, the Secretary shall, forthwith, give notice to the owners thereof according to the last assessment roll of the city or the records of the Register of Deeds of the County of Alpena by first class mail placed in the Alpena Post Office not later than midnight of the Wednesday following the first meeting of the Board. The second session of the Board shall convene on the first Monday of May of each year and shall continue in session from day to day for three (3) days. No assessment shall be changed in any way at any session of the Board except by a motion or resolution regularly put and adopted by a majority of the members of said Board, which motion or resolution shall state the amount at which the assessment is fixed as reviewed by the Board. Each day's proceedings of said board shall be read, approved and signed by the chairperson thereof. At the conclusion of the review of said rolls, and prior to the second Monday in May following, said Board shall prepare a signed statement, showing the amount in gross and the additions or deductions made in total of the assessed valuations of the real and personal property made by them. No person other than the Board of Review shall authorize any change upon or additions or corrections to said roll.
